I asked Kim to write a little note for the blog:
"I first set my eyes on Adam in Spanish class when I was 16. There was something cute and intriguing about him, I thought, “I want to know him. I want to know his family.” (Who has that thought at age 16?!) A year later, that cute boy from Spanish asked me to our high-school homecoming dance. That was our first date. A relationship blossomed that lasted nearly 4 years. Our love was young, but it was real.
When I was twenty-one years young I decided I was too young for a serious relationship. I ended it. Life went on. After graduating college I moved to Chicago, dated some frogs and made bad choice after bad choice. Adam made his life here in Holland, also dating the wrong people. Once Chicago was out of my system I moved back home to Holland. I had always wondered about Adam and how he was getting along. We lived only a couple miles apart, and yet I never ran into him. I screwed up the best relationship I ever had. I wanted a second chance. My friends mostly laughed, telling me that was doubtful.
NYE 2011 - I declared 2012 was going to be MY year. I was finally going to get a real job, and I was going to start dating my future husband. January 9, 2012 - I got a text from a familiar number. It was Adam. After texting back and forth to make sure that it wasn’t my buddy messing with me, we met at a bar. Familiar butterflies returned. The same butterflies I used to get waiting for him in the Library. I knew this time I was not going to let him go.
Here we are, 3 years later. SO in LOVE! He finally popped the question in December a perfect and memorable setting. We were shooting guns! It was THE BEST DAY EVER. I get to marry my perfect match on August 28, 2015. He is patient. He is kind. He is FUN. (Like make you laugh so hard you get hiccups fun!) Best of all, he loves me for being me. I am one very lucky girl.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, in May of 2012, I got my DREAM job. 2012 was a great year. I have a feeling 2015 is going to be even better!!"
